Quest Center's (QC's) mission is to provide services, community, and education to low-income, at-risk people seeking a wellness-focused approach to living and dying. We work to assist our clients to sustain lifestyle changes that support healing, and to effectively strengthen those diagnosed with chronic or life-challenging illnesses, including HIV/AIDS, mental health disorders, chemical dependency, and cancer."

mission statement

Quest Center is a community-based, nonprofit healthcare clinic committed to treating people of all incomes. We are licensed by the state of Oregon as a mental health clinic and substance abuse program. We believe that people thrive when their physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs are effectively met. We provide multidisciplinary and integrative healthcare in a community-based setting, and appreciate that people come from diverse backgrounds which shape these needs. From our inception in 1989, we have been committed to providing high quality care to everyone, including marginalized and underserved populations.

Quest Center offers a wide range of programs and services for individuals to draw from when creating their personalized treatment plan. Such services are offered in a manner that creates a functional community among our clients and sustains their continued healing from both physical and mental illness. All of our programs share the same philosophy, mission and values, but each honors the diversity of its participants.

Quest Center staff and volunteers value:

  • The unique wisdom of each individual
  • Community as a powerful resource
  • Inclusion and diversity
  • Personal and collective integrity
  • Respect for every voice
  • Creativity, connection and playfulness
  • Personal growth

Our History

Quest Center began as a program called Project Quest in 1989 to help people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS change the course of their illness by becoming an active participant in their health care. Initially everything started with a psychoneuroimmunology group, which follows the belief that there is a link between what we think (our state of mind) and our health and our ability to heal ourselves. This group utilized guided imagery to enhance immune system function and teach active coping skills.

In 1995 Project Quest's mission broadened to include anyone diagnosed or affected by a life-challenging illness or seeking a wellness-focused approach to living and dying. Community became the cornerstone of our model of treatment and an education element was added to further emphasize integrative care. We help people discover the skills necessary to become long-term survivors and teach people how to live life fully in the face of being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

In 2006, with the move to our current location, we changed our name to Quest Center from Project Quest because we felt the term "project" implied a temporary endeavor. We continue to modify and develop our programs and services in response to the needs of the community we serve, and have established ourselves as a vital resource for those seeking an integrative approach to their health and wellbeing. As a nonprofit organization, our services are available to everyone, including those who are low-income and without insurance.
